Here We Stand: A Generational Call to the Radical Kingdom of God

Book

How do you change the world for Christ? According to Scripture, you do it by standing for justice, by showing forth kindness, and by walking in humility with our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ (Micah 6:8). You change the world by relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, as you shine the light of truth in dark places. Yet, down through the ages, the lives of those God used to change the world bear the distinct imprint of preparation. Here We Stand is a call for those who have ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church. It’s a call to make a radical commitment to Christ and His kingdom. It’s a call to change yourself, change the Church, and change the world.

Description

While the idea of a radical personal commitment to Jesus Christ finds its fullest expression in the New Testament, the Biblical idea of a God-ordained cultural engagement is actually rooted in the Old Testament. In the very first chapter of Genesis we find what theologians sometimes call the Cultural Mandate. This mandate was first expressed in the context of living an abundant and productive life, where God said to Adam and Eve: “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth.” But God’s mandate quickly expands to a delegation of authority over all He has created when He says: “Subdue it (the Earth) and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the Earth” (Genesis 1:28).

In this astonishing turn of events, God ordains the creature to rule in His place over the Sovereign Lord’s earthly creation. That this mandate is a stewardship responsibility is clear. Equally clear is the responsibility of exercising dominion, in the sense of ruling in God’s place. Fast forward through the ages and one sees that the very shape of our world today can be traced to this Cultural Mandate.

How can you live out this mandate and change the world? This book will help you understand your God-given role to engage the culture and gives you five radical commitments you must make in order to effectively engage the world with the mind of Christ. Here We Stand is a Kingdom call to faithfulness in the days at hand.
