Today the political correctness that censors conversation seems to successfully protect all but one group of people—Christians. Even though we live in a two-party country, the reality is that our media and popular culture is primarily one-party. Evidence of this is in the increasing hostility towards Christians in everything from news columns to movies.
Dr. D. James Kennedy, in this set of 2 full-length sermons, addresses the growing backlash towards Christians and how it actually aligns with our calling in Christ. This 2-disc set includes The War Against Christianity and The Culture War in America.
There are several examples of society’s resentment towards believers in the past, but today this movement has mobilized and become commonplace and even popular. It is important to realize that hatred toward Christians is rooted in hatreds towards Christ. Accepting and unashamedly living for God has always inevitably resulted in opposition. Jesus was our predecessor when it comes to the world’s resentment of Christians, and He even warned us about this in John 15:18 saying, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”
But according to Christ, not only should we expect hostility from the world, we should rejoice in it because it is a sign that we truly are aligned with Him. The world can either reject or accept us as believers because it responds to Christ within us. And while “there are many people within the church who are actually a part of the world,” it is our responsibility as followers of Christ to unashamedly share the Gospel through our words and actions in the midst of resentment.
The Bible says in Luke 6:26, “Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.” Which group do you fall under? In this cultural war against Christianity, it is important to join in the ranks for Christ; and in doing so, we can always rest in the assurance that we are on the winning side.
