America seems to have forgotten its legacy of freedom. It has forsaken its patrimony, its birthright, and the inheritance of religious liberty bequeathed to it by the Founders.
From our nation’s founding, this legacy has been handed down from generation to generation. Some generations paid the highest price to protect it—the price of blood shed on domestic and foreign soil.
Now, however, our nation seems afflicted with amnesia. Our heritage of freedom and the history that produced it are no longer taught in our schools. We have government leaders who believe that religious liberty is a second tier freedom, and judges rule against those whose religious freedom has been trampled.
In order to reclaim this legacy, we must have a historically faithful and proper understanding of the cornerstone of all our freedoms as found in the First Amendment to the Constitution. This book provides a historical record of the relationship between church and state. It also examines the actual words of the Founders who spoke with uncommon clarity and wisdom and anticipated many of the current abuses of our freedoms.
This book also provides significant action steps those who are concerned for the future of our nation can take to help reverse the dangerous decline in our religious freedoms. It is the hope and prayer of D. James Kennedy Ministries that as concerned citizens become educated and get involved, we can reclaim our lost legacy of liberty and restore it once again to its rightful place of prominence in America’s public life.
